We’re looking for an experienced, passionate and dedicated person to join our team as our handyperson.
The ideal person must be able to work under minimum supervision and demonstrate loads of initiative.
The role includes general building ‘do-it-yourself’ and maintenance including basic carpentry, plumbing, replacement of tiling and flooring and painting and decorating. The role also requires you to carry out general garden maintenance work involved in all aspects of maintaining a well-cared for garden area.

Job Purpose/summary:
Reporting to the Finance and Administration Officer, the Handyperson is responsible for cleaning, repairs and
maintenance of all VBTC properties and compound, meeting appropriate sanitation and health standards as set
by VBTC policies and other relevant local laws. This critical role contributes to the overall maintenance, care and
health and wellbeing of VBTC staff and visitors through the maintenance of a clean, healthy and safe working
environment.
- Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Cleaning and maintenance: • Dust and polish furniture and fixtures
- Clean and sanitise toilets, bathroom, countertops and all wet areas
at Broadcast House - Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen areas
- Wash windows and other glass surfaces, including mirrors
throughout Broadcast House, including studios and edit booths - Vacuum and clean any carpets and rugs
- Sweep/vacuum, polish and mop hard floors
- Use any cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops and other
tools - Keep toilets and wash areas stocked with toiletries and other
supplies - Stock staff kitchens with appropriate supplies and utensils
- Empty any rubbish bins and dispose or arrange the disposal of
waste items - Wash and maintain any blinds
- Tidy rooms as required
Reporting • Monitor cleaning supplies and requisition replacement stock as
required - Report any necessary repairs and or replacement to cleaning
equipment

Business operations – Knowledge of and experience in cleaning and sanitizing rooms to varying levels to meet
requirements, willingness to learn new cleaning methods and how to use equipment to undertake cleaning.
